Key West Fishing Reports

Updated fishing reports from the Lower Florida Keys & Key West

Key West Deep Sea Fishing

Key West Atlantic SailfishThe winter months in Key West can bring some of the best activity offshore. As the waters of the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico cool off, the bait moves south into our waters bringing a great variety of pelagic fish.

Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) used to be known as a spring and summer fish here in the Keys. Lately they have been spending more time migrating through the Lower Keys and giving us some great fish fights and fun fishing even in the cooler months. That’s great news if you want to catch one of these aerobatic jumpers. They are good table fare as well and can be grilled, blackened or just plain fried.

Capt. Jay Weed on the Lucky Charm reports some good sailfishing in the winter months. Not to mention a few trips past the reef have resulted in multiple hook ups for other species like dolphin, wahoo and tuna. The trips often include some passes over the reef to try for a great barracuda, mutton snapper or yellowtail.

Key West fishing can be fun for the entire family. Come join us for a memorable trip on the waters off Key West!

You can reach Capt. Jay at 305-304-0208 for charter information.
